Realtek to Show RealShare Smart Display & Intel Power Optimizer/CPPM Solutions at IDF 2012 San Francisco

2012/09/11

HSINCHU, Taiwan ––Realtek Semiconductor Corp., one of the world’s leading IC providers, will display its latest R&D achievements at the Intel Developer Forum, San Francisco 2012 (September 11~13). Featured products include:
1) RealShare Smart Display live demonstration
2) Power Optimizer/CPPM wireless solutions
Realtek RealShare Smart Display
Realtek RealShare Smart Display (RTD1185/RTL8192DU; Digital Media Processor + Wi-Fi module) allows users to wirelessly view and share content from a hard disk, local network, or the internet to a TV screen or other display device. Mobile device users can easily browse the internet, watch a movie, or play games, and view the notebook PC, tablet PC, or Smartphone screen content on a large screen HDTV, without cables or a connection to an existing wireless network.
RealShare Smart Display offers a comprehensive selection of wireless display technologies, supporting WiDi (Intel), DLNA (Digital Living Network Alliance), and AirFun (Realtek Proprietary). RealShare Smart Display will also support the new Wi-Fi Alliance Display Specification, to be called Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Miracast™.
Product Features:
  • Highly versatile platform supports multiple wireless display technologies
  • Integrated total solution combines both multimedia and Wi-Fi technology
  • One-stop shopping for both Processor and Wi-Fi
“Realtek’s RealShare Smart Display allows direct wireless connectivity to large screen display devices”, said Realtek’s Vice President and Spokesman, Jessy Chen. “With an ever increasing share of computing devices being delivered in small screen formats, RealShare Smart Display is an exciting step forward that allows easy expansion of a small device into a full-scale multimedia and entertainment center for the whole family to enjoy”.

Realtek Supports Intel Power Optimizer/CPPM
Intel’s power optimizer/CPPM (Converged Platform Power Management) encompasses deeper power states for better power savings, and provides rapid transitions between the power states due to an integrated voltage regulator. CPPM will reduce power consumption in static machines and increase battery life in mobile devices. Realtek’s CPPM wireless solutions to be presented at IDF 2012 include:
  • IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac products in the Half MiniCard reference design for notebook and desktop PC market segments
  • IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac products in the NGFF (Next Generation Form Factor). These are designed for Intel’s upcoming Shark Bay ULT low-voltage solutions, and for the very slim hardware requirements of Ultrabook applications.
The IDF will take place at the Moscone West Convention Center, San Francisco, September 11~13. Realtek will be exhibiting the above devices at booth number 511.
