2014/06/24

HSINCHU, Taiwan – June 24, 2014 – Realtek Singapore, opening this month with an initial capital of 30 million US dollars, is a wholly owned subsidiary of Realtek Semiconductor Corporation (Realtek) headquartered in Hsinchu, Taiwan. Realtek, founded in 1987, is one of the oldest semiconductor companies in Taiwan's Hsinchu Science Park, and has a track record of delivering uninterrupted profitable growth every year since its inception. In 2013, Realtek was ranked 16th worldwide fabless IC design company, and 6th in Asia with annual revenue of 950 million US dollars.

In recent years Realtek has been accelerating its global deployment and expanding the range of its product applications. In addition to the personal computer and network communication fields, Realtek has branched out into premium 4K2K UHD smart TVs, tablets, and smartphones. Now Realtek has its eyes on the upcoming Internet of Things (IoT) and smart home applications. The Singapore government has been very aggressive in setting up policies, coupled with its strategic geographic position, that attract global talents and investments to form an amicable ecosystem for the communication industry. Realtek Singapore has been established as a confluence of the two visions.

We expect Realtek Singapore to attract top R&D talents in Singapore and the greater Southeast Asia in software design, hardware design, and digital IC design. Such talents, alongside Realtek’s established expertise in wireless technologies and SoC (System on Chip) design, as well as knowledge of the markets and customers, are expected to deliver highly innovative and competitive products and services to lead the IoT and smart home markets in the age of cloud computing and big data.

"We are honored that Realtek has chosen to set up its regional HQ and latest IC design centre in Singapore," said Lim Kok Kiang, Assistant Managing Director of the Singapore EDB who attended Realtek’s opening ceremony and product launch on June 17th in Marina Mandarin Hotel where Mr. Robert Tsao, Honorary Chairman of United Microelectronics Corporation and Mr. Fadah Hsieh, Representative from Taipei Representative Office in Singapore attended as Guests of Honor. "Realtek Singapore will employ another 75 skilled professionals, adding to Singapore's growing pool of IC design talent. The IoT and wireless communications solutions developed here will contribute strongly to the growth of Realtek, and to Singapore’s electronics industry."

"We are very pleased to cooperate with Singapore EDB to set up the Realtek Singapore office," said Luke Huang, Chairman of Realtek Singapore. "We plan to continue our investments to attract top talents into the Realtek family and to show our commitment to our partners and customers. Realtek is proud to be a part of the growth and innovation engines of Singapore technology development".

Realtek Singapore is located at 2 International Business Park, The Strategy, Unit #02-06/07, Singapore 609930. Visits from industry, education, or government sectors are welcome.
