Realtek Demonstrates Latest UWB and PCI Express Solutions at Intel Developer Forum-San Francisco 2008

Intel Developer Forum San Francisco – August 19, 2008 – Realtek Semiconductor Corp., one of the world’s leading IC providers, will demonstrate its latest R&D achievements at Intel Developer Forum-San Francisco 2008 (August 19~21). Products to be demonstrated include:
1) Wireless USB WHCI Host and Device Solutions
2) Managed PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller
3) Ultra low power consumption PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller

Wireless USB WHCI Host and Device Solutions
Realtek’s Half-MiniCard (HMC) and ExpressCard provide Wireless USB functionality. The MAC portion implements the Wireless Host Controller Interface (WHCI) host controller architecture, eliminating the protocol bottleneck of the Host Wire Adapter (HWA) USB2.0 interface and enabling high application throughput. With a PCI Express interface, Realtek’s WHCI host solutions provide state-of-the-art I/O performance and allow manufacturers to build smaller and lighter high-performance notebook PCs. The dual-band WiMedia-compliant PHY supports multiple bands approved for worldwide operation and enable a single worldwide SKU.
On the device side, the Wireless USB docking station uses certified, standards-based technology with modules based on Realtek’s RTU7105 Wireless USB device. A Wireless USB docking station extends the innovative and convenient USB-based docking station concept by adding wireless functionality. The Wireless USB docking station provides the ideal way to manage USB peripherals, audio/video, and Ethernet through a single unit.

Low Power PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controllers
In addition to the new UWB products, Realtek will demonstrate its 10/100/1000Mbps PCI Express Ethernet controllers:

  • RTL8111DP
    Managed PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller solution with Realtek Active Real-time Management technology targeting Business Client PC segments. The RTL8111DP is DASH 1.1 compliant and provides secure in-band & out-of-band remote management of desktop and mobile systems.
  • RTL8111D(L)
    Ultra low power consumption PCI Express Gigabit Ethernet Controller (less than 0.5W @ max. performance). The RTL8111D(L) features Realtek’s Green Ethernet power saving functions and ULPM (Ultra Low Power Mode) during system suspend stages (3.3mW@D3 cold).
